Ten Years Time

This just always makes me think…

Ten Years Time

Do you have a vision?
Do you have a goal?
I’m watching you shrugging your shoulders,
Telling me you just don’t know.

Do you get emotional?
Is there something you’re passionate about?
I can tell that you’re still searching,
Still trying to work it all out.

It takes time
Take your time
Mm mm
You will know
When it feels right

(Chorus)
Where you gonna be in ten years time?
Will you be happy with the way you’ve been living your life?
Will you be alright?
And when you’re looking back to now
All the years gone by
Will there be something that you say
That you should have done right
In your life

What would you fight for?
For what do you stand?
How will you go about it?
And do you have a masterplan?

What are your demons?
How much for your soul?
Have you found religion?
And gone down that road?

Guess we all need
Something to believe
oh oh oh
Times haven’t changed
Thats how it’s gotta be

…(Chorus)…

Are you a dreamer?
Tell me all your dreams
Can you say honestly
What you want to be

What would you do,
When your back’s against the wall?
Would you stand on your two feet?
Would you admit defeat?

These are the times
You need to be strong
Don’t you know,
Don’t you know that is hard
Have you learned to find a way?
You gotta find a way to carry on

…(Chorus)…

…(Chorus)…

Where you gonna be in ten years time?
Will you be alright?
Tell me will you get it right? get it right?
Where you gonna be in ten years time?
Will you be happy with the way that you’re living your life?
Do you feel it being right? It will be alright.
Where you gonna be in ten years time?
Will you be alright?
Tell me will you get it right? get it right?
Where you gonna be in ten years time?

Seasons End

Seasons End

Getting close to seasons end
I heard somebody say
That it might never snow again
In England
Snow flakes in a new-born fist
Sledging on a hill
Are these things we’ll never see
In England

We’ll tell our children’s children why
We grew so tall and reached so high
We left our footprints in the earth
And punched a hole right through the sky

We’ll tell them how we changed the world
And how we tamed the sea
And seasons they will never know
In England

So watch the old world melt away
A loss regrets could never mend
You never miss it till it’s gone
So say goodbye, say goodbye

We’ll tell our children’s children why
We grew so tall and reached so high
You never miss it till it’s gone
So say goodbye, say goodbye
To seasons end

I just thought I add this little snipped that Steve has to say about the lyric.

A nostalgic lament about cold English Winters and their loss to global warming. Once you’ve got your own children you start to think about what kind of a world we’re leaving them with… and which of your dearest memories might be impossibilities in the future.

Baker Street

Winding your way down on Baker Street
Light in your head and dead on your feet
Well another crazy day, you’ll drink the night away
And forget about everything.

This city desert makes you feel so cold
It’s got so many people but it’s got no soul
And it’s taken you so long to find out you were wrong
When you thought it held everything.

You used to think that it was so easy,
You used to say that it was so easy
But you’re tryin’, you’re tryin’ now.
Another year and then you’d be happy
Just one more year and then you’d be happy
But you’re cryin’, you’re cryin’ now.

Way down the street there’s a light in his place
He opens the door, he’s got that look on his face
And he asks you where you’ve been, you tell him who you’ve seen
And you talk about anything.

He’s got this dream about buyin’ some land
He’s gonna give up the booze and the one night stands
And then he’ll settle down, it’s a quiet little town
And forget about everything.

But you know he’ll always keep movin’
You know he’s never gonna stop movin’
Cause he’s rollin’, he’s the rollin’ stone.
And when you wake up it’s a new morning
The sun is shining, it’s a new morning
But you’re going, you’re going on.

Big Jim…

Big Jim
(John Meeks – Colin Radcliffe – Eddie Crotty)
The

Chorus:
Big Jim was a worm, was a great big worm,
Was a great big, bright red, bloody red worm
Large and fat, just like a picture,
Crossed with an eel and a boa constrictor
Fed him on whiskey, made him feel frisky,
Pies and a pint or two
Big Jim was a worm, was a great big worm,
Was a great big, beautiful, bloody red worm.

A famous Scottish Angling Club
arranged to hold a match
(With) five pounds offered as the prize
to him with the biggest catch.
Len Riley said, for catching fish,
good bait is what you need
And so he set to work at once
big worms to try to breed.

He fed his pets on powdered milk,
Baby food and whiskey,
And as the great day grew near,
they grew fat and frisky.
His favorite pet he called Big Jim,
He really was a picture,
He looked just like a conga eel
you’d crossed with a boa constrictor.

The day arrived, the places drawn,
and so the fishing started
It was a sin to puncture Jim
and Lee was broken hearted.
But that five pound note it must be won,
he’d promised to his daughter
And so the dirty deed was done
And Jim thrown in the water.

Some caught perch, some caught bream,
some caught rainbow trout.
Some caught eels, one caught seals,
most of them caught nowt.
But Len he waited patiently
to get a chance to work
When all at once his float did sink
and gave his rod a jerk.

Well that fight went on for hours and hours
Len couldn’t quench his thirst
But Big Jim being the worm he was,
that fish surrendered first.
At once the judge came running up
and with him brought his scales,
He saw the fish, said, Throw it back –
We’re not accepting whales!

It’s the fall…

The leaves have come down heavy today. Our garden has plenty of large trees on the perimeter fence. Horse Chestnut and Oak, however it always suprises me every year the different stages these trees are at. Looking out from my study window, the view in the picture, there are two trees that are so much earlier than all the rest. They are only about 50 metres at most from the rest of the trees, but they always flower, leaf, produce conkers, and drop their leaves before the rest. By about 2 weeks. As you can see they have already done their autumn shedding. However, the rest of the trees started the big push today… so my garden is now covered in a blanket of leaves.

FOREVER AUTUMN
Justin Hayward

The summer sun is fading as the year grows old
And darker days are drawing near
The winter winds will be much colder
Now you’re not here.

I watch the birds fly south across the autumn sky
And one by one they disappear
I wish that I was flying with them
Now you’re not here.

Like the sun through the tres you came to love me
Like a leaf on a breeze you blew away

Through autumn’s golden gown we used to kick our way
You always loved this time of year
Those fallen leaves lie undisturbed now
’cause you’re not here
’cause you’re not here
’cause you’re not here

Like the sun through the trees you came to love me
Like a leaf on a breeze you blew away

A gentle rain falls softly on my weary eyes
As if to hide a lonely tear
My lift will be Forever Autumn
’cause you’re not here
’cause you’re not here
’cause you’re not here

Like the sun through the trees you came to love me
Like a leaf on a breeze you blew away.

Through autumn’s golden gown we used to kick our way
You always loved this time of year
Those fallen leaves lie undisturbed now
’cause you’re not here
’cause you’re not here
’cause you’re not here
