Moved around a fair number if places until finally settling in Shaw, nr Oldham.<\/li>\n<li>Got a schooling ( some English apparently ) and school was top fun. Made many good friends, had a real laugh, consumed copious amounts of alcohol, partied, girls and god knows what else I can&#8217;t remember.<\/li>\n<li>Met Victoria and embarked on the start of a long relationship.<\/li>\n<li>Started <a href=\"http:\/\/www.icemark.com\/poetry\/index.html\" target=\"_self\">writing poetry<\/a> at the grand old age of 15. Much of it influenced by teenage angst, much of it not right good.<\/li>\n<li>Capricorn &#8211; obviously<\/li>\n<li>6ft 1&#8242;<\/li>\n<li><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.icemark.com\/about\/images\/capricorn.gif\" alt=\"capricorn\" width=\"98\" height=\"113\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" \/>Spent most of my final years at school tinkering with my humble <a href=\"http:\/\/www.icemark.com\/spectrum\/index.html\" target=\"_self\">Sinclair Spectrum<\/a>.<br \/>\nLearnt to program in Basic and Z80 assembler and although never managed to actually finish writing a game, spent much time hacking other peoples, doing a fair bit for the magazines. Was the first person to have pokes published for a Spectrum 128 game. (Wow! I can see you&#8217;re impressed.). Still enjoy working out how old spectrum Games worked.<\/li>\n<li>Worked in the local video shop and thus watched so many films that I&#8217;m not sure if my memories are mine or some top Hollywood directors.<\/li>\n<li>Spaghetti Bolognese<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/search.yahoo.com\/search?p=winnie+the+pooh\">Winnie the Pooh<\/a><\/li>\n<li>6<\/li>\n<li>Cheesecake.<\/li>\n<li>Finished reading <a href=\"http:\/\/search.yahoo.com\/bin\/search?p=lord+of+the+rings\">Lord of the Rings<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Big fan of <a href=\"http:\/\/us.imdb.com\/Name?Hughes,+John\" target=\"_blank\">John Hughes<\/a> films.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.garfield.com\/\">Garfield<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Coffee, Milk, One Sugar.<\/li>\n<li>Converted Lords of Midnight and Doomdark&#8217;s revenge to the PC back in 1991. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.icemark.com\/tower\/pcconv.htm\" target=\"_self\">Full story here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Platform games &amp; Shoot-em-ups. Now that&#8217;s the future.<\/li>\n<li>Left school and went to college to study computers but left after the first years because it was cack. Could never understand why I had to learn accounts to be a programmer.<\/li>\n<li>Got my first Job in February 1989 Working for MAP Computer Products, writing among other things &#8220;accounts software&#8221; and wished I&#8217;d paid more attention at college.<\/li>\n<li>Thought <a href=\"http:\/\/www.idsoftware.com\/\">Doom<\/a> was great<br \/>\nbut never got into <a href=\"http:\/\/www.idsoftware.com\/\">Quake<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Started writing a book\u2026 it will get finished honest.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/search.yahoo.com\/search?p=twin+peaks\">Twin Peaks<\/a> is probably the best TV programme ever made.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.icemark.com\/misc\/blue.htm\">Blue<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Spent the next five years in the business sector before finally in an insane moment giving it up and joining the games industry.<\/li>\n<li>I enjoy reading. Fantasy and Science Fiction, <a href=\"http:\/\/search.yahoo.com\/search?p=john+grisham\">John Grisham<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/search.yahoo.com\/search?p=patricia+cornwell\">Patricia Cornwell<\/a>, Egyptian History.<\/li>\n<li>Worked for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sci.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">SCi<\/a>, converted CYBERWAR to the Japanese NEC9821 a PC with a personality problem. Helped put XS back on track, Helped finish KINGDOM &#8216;O MAGIC &#8211; a rather good idea designed by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.delta4.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Fergus &#8220;Delta4&#8221; McNeill<\/a>. But poorly implemented in Good &#8216;Ol SCi Fashion.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.icemark.com\/about\/images\/nosmokng.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"68\" height=\"73\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Had lunch with <a href=\"http:\/\/us.imdb.com\/Name?Hauer,+Rutger\">Rutger Hauer<\/a> &#8211; very big man.<\/li>\n<li>Along with Fergus designed a new Adventure Enginewhich was to be used to make Ground Breaking Adventures &#8211; among other things. Developing many new ideas and techniques which were never used but similar things later appeared in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blade-runner.com\/\">Blade Runner<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lucasarts.com\/products\/grim\/default.htm\">Grim Fandango<\/a>. (Ho Hum!) The first game was to be Lord of the Rings.<\/li>\n<li>Resigned from SCi after they carelessly lost the LOTR license.<\/li>\n<li>Red\/Green Colour Blind.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.icemark.com\/about\/images\/colourblindtest.gif\" alt=\"Colour Blind Test\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Live in the New Forest.<\/li>\n<li>Had Lunch with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sff.net\/people\/kathkerr\/\" target=\"_blank\">Katharine Kerr<\/a> and Alis Rasmussen (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sff.net\/people\/Kate.Elliott\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kate Elliot<\/a> ). Very nice people.<\/li>\n<li>Have a very wide taste in music and thus too many CD&#8217;s for my own good.<\/li>\n<li>Keep buying Hardback co pies of <a href=\"http:\/\/search.yahoo.com\/search?p=terry+pratchett\">Terry Prattchet<\/a> books and not reading them. I own all of them.<\/li>\n<li>After 8 years finally got married to Victoria on July 2nd 1996 at Rhinefield House, Brockenhurst.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.marillion.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Marillion<\/a> &#8211; Misplaced Childhood.<\/li>\n<li>Joined as Technical Director, (and actual guy doing the programming)\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smoking-gun.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Smoking Gun Productions<\/a>. Spent<br \/>\nmany months designing another new Adventure Engine in the vain attempt to release a game using new ideas before anyone else. The game was dropped by Infogrammes &#8220;sight unseen&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>Developed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spacebastards.com\/\">Robosaurs versus the Space Bastards<\/a> and had a real blast doing it.
