Well, ultimately I enjoyed it. I did however find it hard work. A couple of things; firstly he jumps around in time and viewpoint way too often for my liking, making it hard to follow at times. And secondly, Banks doesn&#8217;t appear to be a particular prosey writer, however, ever now and then he just goes off on one, and it seems more to prove a point rather than to move the story forward.
