Safari Not Asking For Proxy Password<\/b><\/p>\n

Dull posting here, but I decided to post it in order to record a technical
\nproblem and solution for an issue I recently had with Safari.<\/p>\n

When running behind a proxy, Safari for windows uses the proxy settings
\nfrom IE. It’s easy to set the address of the proxy by selecting
\nPreferences:Advanced:Proxies – Change Settings<\/i><\/p>\n

The first time you do this, Safari will ask you for a username and
\npassword so that it can authenticate your connection. If you select
\n“remember password” it will NEVER ask you for this again. I use the word
\nNEVER hear loosely – it might ask you, I just don’t know under what
\ncircumstances.<\/p>\n

So, if your password changes, Safari has the wrong password and will be
\nunable to connect.<\/p>\n

If you uninstall Safari and Reinstall it… the problem remains.<\/p>\n

The Solutions is: Delete the keychain.plist<\/b> file from the directory<\/p>\n

C:\\Documents and Settings\\[username]\\Application Data\\Apple
\nComputer\\Preferences<\/i><\/p>\n

This is under XP, the directory will be different under Vista.<\/p>\n

Restart Safari and it will ask you for the authentication again.<\/p>\n\"Technorati\"\/<\/a> Apple<\/a>, Bug<\/a>, Safari<\/a>, Windows<\/a>, Proxy<\/a>, Password<\/a>, Authentication<\/a>\n
