We took the kids to see The Story of Cinderella at the Nuffield Theatre on Sunday. As a rule I don’t go to pantomime, never really taken to them. The problem with them is that I don’t do embarrasment very well and these things seem to tend toward cringe worthy which in turn leads to embarrasment.
I will admit that despite the odd uncomfortable bit, I did enjoy it, and the kids really loved it. Jacob watched some of it through his fingers as he found the Ugly Sisters a little scary; they were in fact very funny.

I forgot to mention that I watched half of Madonna’s London Confessions tour concert on TV last week, or maybe even the week before last… ( some details here )
Anyway, what I saw was fantastic… she’ll really knows how to entertain and put on a show. It’s a brilliant concert for a brialliant album. I was thoroughly entertained… I just need to watch it all now!

Nigella Lawson
I am sucker for cookery programs. I tend to watch most of them although I can get bored after a number of series; I think celeb chefs just have their time….
I watched Nigella Lawson last night and she annoyed the hell out of me… how much flirtation can any person attempt to fill into a half hour program about food?
Every measurement, every bite, every stir, all done with an excessive dose of the celeb chef sultryness…
… made me sick! I doubt I’ll be watching her anymore…

Penny Arcade
A lyric request for Gail… sorry it didn’t make it to the Lyrics site but I listed it here for you instead. And despite the fact that I left Sarah and Michael’s a little worse for wear, and then spent the rest of the night singing into the white porcelain bowl, I still managed to remember the name of the song without the need for the piece of paper that I wrote it down on! So, it only took me three attempts of asking you for the name but I stuck eventually!
Penny Arcade
Sammy King – Roy OrbisonA light shown in the night some way ahead,
blue turned into green then it was red
And stirring the night love music played
the light I saw in the night was a penny arcadeHey step up and play each machine seemed to say,
as I walked round and round the penny arcade
Just ring the bell on the big bagatelle
and you’ll make all those colored lights cascade
And music played at the penny arcade,
yes it played and it played, played all the time
Roll up and spend your last dimeAt first I thought it a dream that I was in,
lost, lost in a sea of glass and tin
But no, so dipping my hand in the back of my jeans
I grabbed a handful of coins to feed the machineRepeat chorus
Oh! repeat chorus
Roll up and spend your last, roll up and spend your last,
Roll up and spend your last dime
