It’s Christmas…

Heard my first painful earload of slade this morning… why o why can’t we get some new good Christmas songs? Every year we seem to roll out the same old tat. It’s just like going to a wedding or such and the “DJ” plays all those dreadful party songs. Stop it now!

Bah Humbug!

I Hope You Dance…

I thought I’d start posting lyrics that I really like. It’s always bothered me that song lyrics are never afforded the same respect as poetry gets. The first two are topical as they hasve both been covered by Ronan Keating, and are either on release now or about to be! Strange.

I Hope You Dance
Lee Ann Womack

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder,
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger,
May you never take one single breath for granted,
GOD forbid love ever leave you empty handed,
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

I hope you dance….I hope you dance.

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance,
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin’ might mean takin’ chances but they’re worth takin’,
Lovin’ might be a mistake but it’s worth makin’,
Don’t let some hell bent heart leave you bitter,
When you come close to sellin’ out reconsider,
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

I hope you dance….I hope you dance.
I hope you dance….I hope you dance.
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along,
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone.)

I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

Dance….I hope you dance.
I hope you dance….I hope you dance.
I hope you dance….I hope you dance..
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone

Weddings

Ok, did the wedding on Saturday, which went better than expected… actually probably as expected. However, the kids enjoyed themselve, Rebekah loves dancing at weddings, so she was in her element there.

More importantly there was a live band at the Evening Party. a small unsigned band obviously. Nizlopi

Well, they were fantastic. Just two band members Luke Concannon (vocal/guitar/drum) and John Parker (double bass/human beat box). The singer sounds a little like a male Tracy Chapman and their songs are beautifully crafted and original. The whole sound was fantastic for a warmy barmy evening.

I picked up a copy of their album and listened to it a couple of times during the drive home. Although it is a little more produced than their live set, it is still massively pleasing. Actually listened to it all Sunday as well.

Check out their website from some sample songs on jugglinginferno.com

Matt Goss

Strange one yesterday, I heard the new single ‘Fly’ from Matt Goss ( Bros, to those of you old enough to remember ) Anyway, I was pleasantly suprised, it was very good. I heard it it the car driving to work, and then again on the way home.

Now, I’m pretty liberal with music, I like pretty much anything ( except random jazz stuff ), but I still get suprised when people who’s music I didn’t like before suddenly come out with something good.
